Multiplication facts, Halloween vocabulary, and a Sudoku that takes real thinking: this free 14-page Halloween Activity Book is built for 8- and 9-year-olds who want puzzles with a bit of bite. Everything is printable on standard paper and designed for independent work.

The first page of Halloween Fun Facts feeds several of the puzzles that follow. The Word Scramble uses words from it, the Matching page asks kids to match each Halloween word to its meaning, and the Word Search hides the same vocabulary, with the leftover letters spelling a secret word.

Math shows up in three forms. Secret Message has students solve problems and use the answers to crack a code. Math Snake is a long chain of problems that winds across the page — solve every link and color the snake. The Math Pyramid asks them to fill in boxes where each box is the sum of the two below it. For logic there is a full 9×9 Sudoku (every digit from 1 to 9 once in each row, column, and box), plus a Tic-Tac-Toe page for two players with room to track who wins the most games. A Halloween Mandala rounds things out for coloring.

Two Activity pages link to Mokifun. First, kids play Math Monkey and write down how many problems they got right. Later, they play Word Race and record how fast they found the words. The score boxes make an easy classroom challenge: who can improve their score by Friday?

Skills covered: reading comprehension, vocabulary and word meanings, spelling, addition and multiplication fluency, logical deduction, and sticking with a longer puzzle. It works as a Halloween-week packet, an indoor-recess option, a sub-folder staple, or a homeschool unit on October traditions.

Print on US Letter in black and white. The snake, mandala, and maze-style pages are designed to be colored, so no color ink is needed. Print one copy per child so each Sudoku is a fresh challenge.
