Most winter printables run out of steam by 5th grade. This free 14-page Winter Activity Book does not: it swaps the addition pyramid for a multiplication one, adds a nonogram-style Picture Puzzle, and keeps the full 9×9 Sudoku. It is a genuine independent-work packet for 10- and 11-year-olds.

The Winter Fun Facts page sets up the vocabulary. From there kids tackle a Word Scramble and a Word Search whose leftover letters spell a secret word. On the math side, Secret Message has them solve problems and use the answers to crack a code, and the Multiplication Maze asks them to solve problems and color the correct path from start to end. The Math Pyramid is the hard version: each box is the product of the two boxes below it, so kids have to multiply upward and divide downward to fill the blanks.

Logic gets two pages. The Sudoku requires every digit from 1 to 9 once in each row, column, and box. The Picture Puzzle works like a nonogram: the numbers along the edges tell you how many squares in a row to color, and a winter picture appears when it is done right. Tic-Tac-Toe for two players and a Winter Mandala round out the packet.

Two Activity pages tie in Mokifun games. Students play Math Monkey and record how many problems they got right, then later play Word Race and note their time. Both are good for a week-long personal-best challenge.

Skills covered: reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, multiplication and division fluency, logical deduction, spatial reasoning, and persistence. It works for 5th-grade early finishers, a sub folder, a snow-day packet, the last week before winter break, or a homeschool winter unit.

Print on US Letter in black and white. The maze, mandala, and Picture Puzzle are all meant to be filled in with pencil or crayon, so no color ink is needed. One copy per student keeps the Sudoku and Picture Puzzle honest.
